Calling Local Businesses, Potters, and more

World Hunger Day is October 16th, 2008, and to help Second Harvest Heartland feed those hungry in our community, an Empty Bowls event is being planned.

“Empty Bowls” is an international project to fight hunger, personalized on a community level. The concept for Empty Bowls is simple. Participating artists create and donate handmade bowls, then serve a simple meal. Guests choose a bowl to use that day and to keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. In exchange for the meal, and the bowl, guests give a suggested minimum donation. The meal's proceeds are given to local hunger-fighting organizations, in this case Second Harvest Heartland (http://www.2harvest.org/).

This will be Saint Paul's 1st Empty Bowls event, so let's make it a good one.

It is coming up soon, so I need your help. Anything you can offer, anything at all will be of the best gift you can give the community. Here are a few suggestions:
  • Soup
  • Spoons
  • Handmade bowls suitable for food (can be pottery, glass, or whatever)
  • Event space for 1 night, 4 hours on October 16th
  • Coffee and cups
  • Bread and butter
  • Stock pots and cookers
  • Napkins
  • Tickets
  • Advertising materials
  • Money
  • Gift Certificates

Thank you for considering to donate. I look forward to hearing from you.
